A few years ago I enrolled in the Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate program at the North Carolina Botanical Garden.  I had previously dabbled in art for many years, generally engaging in a more loose sketching style. This program has instilled a lot of artistic discipline in me, and a chance to vastly improve my observational, drawing and painting skills.  I was invited to join the local GNSI chapter which has been a wonderful experience as it has encouraged me to explore the natural world beyond plants.  I enjoy exploring texture, strong form and enjoy using different media such as watercolor, pen and ink and colored pencil.  I haven’t settled on a personal style yet but the journey is so much fun.
